Greenwood ESL Program
1. What is ESL?
ESL stands for 'English as a Second Language'. In particular,
it refers to people whose mother tongues are not English and
they learn English as a second language. ESL classes are generally
recognized as an effective means for helping ESL students in
countries such as Canada, USA, UK, Australia, New Zealand, etc.
2. What are the features of Greenwood ESL?
Greenwood consists of multimedia lessons and web assignments. When assigned
by teachers to their students as activities outside the classroom, it gives
students more exposure to the English language, and helps teachers save time
with some of the drills and markings; a win-win gain.
3. Any other major benefit of Greenwood?
Greenwood voices focus on Canadian accent. Canadian accent is relatively neutral; it
is between British and American accents. Neutral accent conveys a comfortable, friendly and educated feel.
Many TV and radio stations around the world prefer Canadian newscasters.
4. How do you use Greenwood?
Greenwood is a teacher's tool to be used by students outside
of the classroom as part of a blended learning strategy (classroom face-to-face plus web e-learning). Teachers can monitor students' progress via
the Greenwood web so that further guidance can be given in class.
5. How many levels are there in the Greenwood
ESL program?
Greenwood ESL program consists of 3 levels. (Level 1 - 3)
6. What countries would recognize the Greenwood ESL program?
The Greenwood ESL program conforms to the International Association
of Language Testers standards, as well as compatible with U.K.'s
Cambridge Series of English Exams.
The International Association of Language Testers is widely
recognized by countries such as Australia, Belgium, Canada,
Denmark, Finland, France, Germany, Greece, Ireland, Italy, New
Zealand, Norway, Portugal, Spain, Sweden, The Netherlands, the
U.K., and the U.S.
The Greenwood ESL structure allows students to link up with
international standard readily. A Greenwood certificate can
be used by Canadian and other schools or colleges to quickly
determine the language ability of students and to place them
into suitable classes.
